Kondwa Sakala-Chibiya is a legal practitioner and Advocate of the High Court and Supreme Court of Zambia.
Mrs Sakala-Chibiya is a Partner at J.B. Sakala and Company, the firm she joined in 1999, prior to which she worked in the legal department of Zambia Consolidated Copper Mines. She has represented both corporate and private clients in matters relating to Labour, Company, Commercial, Family, Probate, Contract Law, and Conveyancing.
Mrs Sakala-Chibiya served on the Governing Council and was elected as Honourary Secretary of the Law Association of Zambia. She has sat on many of the Association’s Committees including the HIV/AIDS Committee and the International Relations Committee. She currently sits on the Legal Practitioners’ Committee and Women’s Rights Committee. She also served as the President of the Southern Africa Development Community Lawyers Association, the representative body of lawyers and law societies covering 12 regional countries.
Mrs Sakala-Chibiya is the Vice Chairperson of the Human Rights Commission. She is also a Commissioner of Small Claims Court and trustee of the Kwacha Pension Board of Trustees and also serves on the Board of the AON Pension Fund Administrators. She has been a Member of the Institute of Directors since 2010.
She holds a Bachelor of Law Degree from Reading University, U.K. She qualified and was called to the Zambian Bar in 1995. In 2007 she obtained a certificate in Investment Advisory and Stock Broker Services from the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and the Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies.
