Dr Mwangelwa Mubiana-Mbewe, MBChB, MBA is CIDRZ Director of Paediatric HIV Treatment and Prevention Services
She joined CIDRZ in 2005, as a paediatrician working in the general ART department.
Upon seeing the need for dedicated paediatric HIV services, she helped establish the paediatric ART programme in the four Zambian provinces supported by CIDRZ — Lusaka, Western, Eastern and Southern. In her current role, she is responsible for all PMTCT activities and paediatric HIV programme management.
Her leadership role in CIDRZ spans research as she is also the Investigator of Record for the Zambia site of Promoting Maternal and Infant Survival Everywhere (PROMISE), and is Principal Investigator in other studies.
She enjoys being in the field where she can provide hands- on care as well as teach and give technical support to health workers to increase their skills and capacity to care for paediatric patients with HIV.
