Dr Sharon Kapambwe MBChB, MPH is Director of the CIDRZ Women’s Cancer Control 

In April 2015 she was seconded to the Ministry of Health where she will continue to lead efforts to scale-up high quality cervical and breast cancer services and other key interventions at a National level.

Dr Kapambwe joined CIDRZ in 2005 as a Research Medical Officer in the HIV Prevention Trials Network research initiatives. In 2007 she pursued a Master’s in Public Health focusing on the development of health programmes in developing countries at the Royal Tropical Institute (KIT), Vrije University, Netherlands.

She joined the Cervical Cancer Prevention Programme as Programme Manager on 2008, became Co-Director in 2014, and Director in 2015. Dr Kapambwe also co-chairs the Zambian HPV Vaccination Demonstration Project Committee and is an executive member of the Medical Women’s Association of Zambia focusing primarily on maternal and child health advocacy. She has coauthored several manuscripts on cervical cancer prevention efforts in Zambia.
