AITRP is a nearly $800,000/year training grant for eight nations: Bangladesh, China, India, Mongolia, Pakistan, Russia, Rwanda, and Zambia. Over 40% of the resources of this award are devoted to Zambia.
Twenty-nine Zambians have entered the program and, to date, 26 have completed a Masters-level degree in Public Health and returned to Zambia. Many remain in collaboration with CIDRZ, working on various research and service initiatives; however, several have also taken leading posts at University Teaching Hospital, University of Zambia, and international agencies such as U. S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Family Health International, UNICEF, and Catholic Medical Missions Board.
