CIDRZ receives Award from Zambia Federation of Employers

CIDRZ held Labour Day Celebrations on 6th May 2016 and honoured 40 of its employees in the categories of Most Cost-Efficient, Most Innovative, Most Committed and Hardworking, and Most Outstanding. The celebrations were held under the national theme: “Achieving national development through productive decent work, sustainable job creation, and social justice.”

Cerebrating people who contribute to results achievement

The 40 employees that were honoured were from various departments including Monitoring and Evaluation, Finance, Internal Audit, Laboratory and Programmes. In his address to staff, CIDRZ CEO, Dr Charles Holmes stated on the topic of our commitment to excellence and results, “As I said at our end of year meeting in 2015, we have some of the most committed people in the world working for CIDRZ. Every day I see people committed to excellence and bringing their best to their work. This has shown in our results in nearly EVERY program this year, from our BetterInfo study targeting HIV programme retention, to our HIV, cervical cancer and TB programmes, to the Clinical Trials research Unit and the Laboratory that consistently produces accurate results for doctors, nurses and patients who rely on them. Our awards ceremony today will celebrate the people who have contributed to these results.”

We had fallen, but we have arisen stronger

Over the years CIDRZ has strengthened its systems to respond to modern challenges and donor guidelines. “… I want to reflect briefly on the great future ahead for CIDRZ. It has been said that the last 3-4 years at CIDRZ were a turnaround process. The organisation truth be told, had fallen off track. … but we have now cleaned up all of the serious issues,” added Dr Holmes.

Accountability and commitment

Ensuring prudent usage of resources is our primary concern. CIDRZ values the generous financial and technical support it receives from its partners as well as our positive partnerships with various government departments. To reiterate this, Board of Directors member, Mrs Beatrice Grillo encouraged CIDRZ staff “As a board we encourage all employees to demonstrate their commitment to productive decent work by exhibiting positive attitude towards work and ensuring that there is total compliance to our donors and other stakeholders’ we work with.”

… And CIDRZ is an employer of choice

During the event, CIDRZ Director of Human Resource, Mrs Roselyne Raelly, also presented the CEO with the award that CIDRZ was given by the Zambia Federation of Employers for the Best Staff Development Policy in the NGO sector in Zambia! CIDRZ is proud to be associated with efforts to developing … a healthy Zambia”.
