Implementation Science

What is Implementation Science (IS)?

IS is a new and growing field that has emerged due to the growing need to translate the latest scientific discoveries into service delivery  innovations that can be successfully implemented in “real world” clinical and public health settings.

In 2018 CIDRZ launched the Implementation Science Unit to be at the interface of high quality research and service delivery. The unit aims to maximize the reach, effectiveness, and sustainability of interventions implemented across CIDRZ programs, and to identify programmatically impactful questions to rigorously examine through the lens of implementation science.

Implementation Science Unit

The main objectives of the Implementation Science Unit are:

  1. Maximize use of existing CIDRZ program and data to describe and evaluate innovative areas of service delivery and programming.
  2. Ensure that findings from these innovative program initiatives are disseminated at local, regional, and international levels.
  3. Continue to promote and evaluate introduction of evidence-based interventions into real world Zambian program and clinical settings to improve the health system and health of all Zambians.
