CIDRZ, DFMS Partner with MOH to Revise Zambia’s HIV Treatment and Prevention Guidelines.

Health experts from the Ministry of Health, alongside implementing partners, recently gathered in Kabwe District to revise Zambia’s Consolidated Guidelines for the Treatment and Prevention of HIV, following updated recommendations issued in July 2025 by the World Health Organization and other key policy makers stakeholders.

The meeting was supported by the U.S. Government through the Department of War (DOW), in collaboration with the Defence Force Medical Services (DFMS) and the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ).

Among those in attendance were CIDRZ Defense Force Program Prevention Project (DFPP) Director Dr Mwangelwa Mubiana, Clinical Lead Dr Michael Kabongo, and Supply Chain Advisor Mr Mubiana Muhau, alongside representatives from the Department of Defense, the Director General Medical Services Brigadier General (Dr) Jackson Kasela, officials from the Ministry of Health, and other implementing partners.

The engagement focused on ensuring Zambia’s national HIV guidelines remain aligned with the latest scientific evidence and global best practices in HIV prevention, treatment, and care. CIDRZ is a key partner and remains committed to ensuring that the MoH succeeds in its mission goals.
