Current projects - Primary health care (PHC)
- EPI-OPT (Expanded Programme on Immunisation-Optimisation): A collective impact approach to improving vaccine coverage rates in all EPI health facilities in Southern and Western Provinces. The initial funding (from UNICEF/Gavi) supports initiation of the project in Southern Province, with an additional $1.3m secured to scale the depth of the support in Southern (with an electronic supply chain management system down to the health facility level) and to broaden the support to Western Province. CIDRZ is working with UNICEF, PATH and CHAZ in support of MOH.
- Gavi Partners’ Engagement Framework (PEF): Technical Assistance grant from the Global Vaccine Alliance with four objectives: 1) strengthen management and governance capacity; 2) strengthen and support capacity building of the immunisation supply chain; 3) strengthen sub-national health systems; and 4) support coordination and functioning of national EPI activities.
- Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) response support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to help facilitate the coordination and response to the polio and COVID-19 threats in Zambia. It brings together a consortium of Government and partner staff to work together and have a direct line of communication together as a response team, establishing a command post for the outbreaks.
