Main activities:

  1. Training of health staff both HCW and lay workers
  2. Implementation of systems and support of PITC at TB clinics Screening and management of TB and HIV in HIV care settings
  3. Support for Monitoring and Evaluation
  4. Initiatives to improve TB/HIV such as:
  5. ART provision in TB clinics
  6. Screening for TB in MCH settings
  7. Laboratory support: quality assurance and diagnostics

A 3 year project (2012-15) collaborative project of partner organisations under the coordination of the MOH: WHO, CDC – Zambia, USAID, TB CARE I, ZPCT II, CIDRZ

Objectives:
  1. Increase TB detection through Intensified Case Finding using Xpert MTB/RIF assay in health care and prison facilities and community household case finding
  2. Improve treatment success rate among TB patients diagnosed in HIV settings by improving DOTS coverage
  3. Implementation of Isoniazid Preventative Therapy for Persons Living with HIV
  4. Improve TB Infection Control activities in HIV care and treatment and prison settings
  5. Improve linkages for ART provision for TB patients diagnosed in HIV settings
