CIDRZ and DFZ Conclude a High-Level Meeting to Roll Out SmartCare Pro Across 58 Health Facilities Under the PEPFAR-funded DoD/DHAPP Project.

The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), in collaboration with the Defense Force of Zambia (DFZ) under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR)-funded United States Department of Defense/Defense Force HIV/AIDS Prevention Project (DOD/DHAPP) project has successfully concluded a two-day high-level meeting aimed at rolling out SmartCare Pro across 58 DFZ health facilities.

In her closing remarks, DOD/DFPP Project Director Dr. Mwangelwa Mubiana-Mbewe expressed her appreciation for the presence and active participation of all attendees, particularly the leadership from the Defense Forces. Dr. Mubiana-Mbewe underscored the significance of the meeting in advancing the digital health agenda.

“We truly value your presence here today as we delve into the benefits of SmartCare Pro for our healthcare system. Your contributions and suggestions on effectively implementing this technology are invaluable,” she said.

Meanwhile, Brigadier General Dr Jackson Kasela, the Director General for the Defense Force Medical Services, highlighted the significance of the meeting, which promises to revolutionise patient care within the defence force.

Dr Kasela stated that their mandate to support high-level data quality for decision-making is crucial for managing patients and delivering high-quality services.

He added that this marks a significant leap forward in health service delivery and will enhance efficiency in patient care across all military health facilities.

The DoD/DHAPP Program Coordinator in Zambia, Mr Dawson Ngoma, expressed satisfaction with the meeting’s outcomes, reaffirming the U.S. Department of Defense’s commitment to supporting the DFZ in successfully rolling out the SmartCare Pro and achieving continuous quality service provision.
