CIDRZ Conducts One Health Baseline Research Study with Support from SFSI.

Paul Somwe, a CIDRZ staff member, presenting at the Qualitative Data Collection Workshop in Lusaka.

The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), funded by Sustainable Food Systems Ireland (SFSI), is leading the One Health Baseline Research Study to evaluate knowledge and practices in food safety, animal disease surveillance, animal medicine controls, and regulation of one health systems among actors in the food supply chain.

As part of this initiative, CIDRZ hosted a Qualitative Data Collection Workshop with participants randomly selected from those previously interviewed during the Quantitative Data Collection Survey conducted in November and December 2024.

Through this research, CIDRZ and its partners aim to understand the existing practices and challenges in Zambia’s food system safety and animal health sectors, ultimately contributing to improved regulations and informing policy decisions.
