CIDRZ partners with Stanchart to donate COVID-19 Testing Kits to the Zambian Government

The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), has continued its support to the Government of the Republic of Zambia (GRZ) in the health sector, by partnering with the Standard Chartered Bank Zambia (Stanchart), to donate 2, 250 COVID 19 testing kits to the Ministry of Health (MOH).

CIDRZ provided Technical expertise in the procurement of the testing kits, whilst Stanchart provided the financial support worth US$50, 000 to boost COVID-19 testing in Zambia.

Receiving the testing kits during the MOH COVID-19 update briefing, Minister of Health Honourable Dr. Chitalu Chilufya MP, thanked CIDRZ and Stanchart for the partnership in supplementing government’s efforts in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.

CIDRZ Chief Executive Officer Dr. Izukanji Sikazwe, said CIDRZ was committed to working with the Zambian government in achieving quality healthcare services to citizens. 

She further applauded Stanchart for choosing and having confidence in CIDRZ in the partnership to donate the testing kits, to scale up COVID-19 testing in communities and health facilities. In addition, she thanked MOH for the continued collaboration with CIDRZ.

“On behalf of CIDRZ and our partners Stanchart, I would like to thank you for giving us an opportunity to come and officially handover the test kits we are donating today. We are grateful to MOH for the continued partnership with CIDRZ in achieving quality healthcare services in Zambia” Dr. Sikazwe said.

And Stanchart Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand and Marketing Ms. Christine Matambo, said her bank was committed in supporting national efforts to fighting the COVID-19 pandemic in Zambia. 

She said her bank was excited to partner with CIDRZ in donating US$50, 000 worth of COVID-19 testing kits for use in communities and health facilities.

“This is one of the many ways that Standard Chartered Bank continues to join the national fight against COVID- 19. As you know, testing is a vital element in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and we commend the Ministry of Health for their relentless efforts in managing one of the greatest challenges faced by humanity in the last 50 years”, Ms. Matambo said.
