With @USAIDZambia support, the Tuberculosis Local Organizations Network (TBLON) project being implemented by Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) has supplied the University Teaching Hospital (UTH) TB Laboratory with culture reagents worth over K730,000.
The items include six thousand 7mls Mycobacteria Growth Indicator Tube (MGIT) BBL, two thousand Capilia TB Neo, sixty MGIT 960 supplement Kits and twenty MGIT 960 Sire Kits all valued at the total cost of K733,888.63.
These commodities will increase access to culture and Drug Susceptibility Testing (DST) among high-risks groups for drug resistant TB (DR TB) and sputum monitoring of patients on DR TB treatment. This is expected to contribute to improved DR TB case detection and treatment in Zambia.
