The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) wishes to congratulate Prof. Roma Chilengi on his appointment as Special Advisor for Covid-19 to President Hakainde Hichilema.

Prior to his appointment, Prof. Chilengi was CIDRZ Chief Scientific Officer with overall oversight on the multiple research activities at CIDRZ. Over the last 10 years, he has led clinical trials in diarrheal diseases, HIV and more recently COVID-19.

He is passionate about building the next generation of Zambian scientist and led the CIDRZ training program with post-graduate trainees and post-doctoral fellows at various levels of the careers.
