CIDRZ continues to create awareness on the benefits of Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision

The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) through its HIV prevention program PROUD Z project, funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has continued to ensure that it provides support to the Ministry of Health (MoH) through its Provincial Health Offices in offering quality healthcare and services to the community.

Recently, the CIDRZ Male Circumcision program worked with the Western Province Health Office (WPHO) to sponsor the Kazanga traditional ceremony of the Nkoya People under the leadership of His Royal Highness Chief Mudondo.

During the ceremony, CIDRZ donated one hundred (100) T-shirts and provided the Public Address (PA) system for use during ceremony which run for two days.

The CIDRZ team along with the WPHO team used the invitation to the ceremony as an opportunity to engage with traditional leaders and discuss health issues that affect their people.

Other awareness messages shared include; the importance of Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision as an HIV prevention method for HIV-uninfected men as this has been an integral part of the MoH campaign to get to Zero New HIV Infections.
