CIDRZ Breaks Ground on New Head Office

The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) has commenced the construction of the new head offices in Ibex Hill, Lusaka.

Speaking in a speech read on his behalf by the Deputy Board Chairperson Ms. Kondwa Sakala-Chibiya, CIDRZ Board Chairperson Mr. Bradford Machila said, for over 20 years of providing quality health care in Zambia, CIDRZ is witnessing the commencement of yet another milestone in its history.

“Today marks the beginning of a journey to build a permanent home for the CIDRZ head office,” he added.

Mr. Machila noted that the construction of the CIDRZ head office is at an estimated cost of 7.9 million dollars funded internally by CIDRZ Limited through VenYou Zambia, with external support from a renowned bank.

He urged the contractors to exert their utmost efforts on the project as this will remain the permanent home for CIDRZ.

“The goal is to build an infrastructure that suits the standards and regulations of the industry. I am confident that the engineers assigned are up to the task and will deliver quality work within the 13 months projected for this project”, said Mr. Machila.

Meanwhile, CIDRZ Chief Executive Officer Dr. Izukanji Sikazwe said the new offices shall accommodate all staff and host the various CIDRZ branches. These include the laboratory, warehouse, and CIDRZ limited subsidiary companies.

She added that the premises will house a state-of-the-art clinical trial building that will enable researchers to carry out their work within the facility.
