A child’s well-being requires dedicated responsibility and involvement from both parents. The ongoing measles vaccination campaign fulfils this requirement, as we have seen increasing male participation in bringing their children for vaccination.
Daniel Mukwashi, one of the parents found at Railway Urban Clinic in Kafue, said his responsibility was to ensure his child enjoyed the best possible health.
“This is my daughter. I have to do what’s best for her to live a healthy life. I do not have to wait for the mother to do it. If I can do it, why not?” Mukwashi said.
Another parent found at Chongwe district hospital, Bruno Senti, said he brought his son for the measles vaccination as an expression of love.
“I had to bring the boy for immunisation because I love him, and I have to protect him,” Bruno said.
With this commitment observed from the parents, eliminating measles and ensuring the well-being of children is not a far-fetched dream.
