Yesterday, the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) celebrated staff excellence and dedication by awarding 65 deserving employees at a colourful Labour Day awards ceremony held under the theme, “Shaping Zambia’s Future of Work Through Home-Grown Solutions for Inclusive Economic Growth.”

Speaking at the event, CIDRZ Chief Executive Officer Dr Izukanji Sikazwe expressed heartfelt gratitude to CIDRZ staff, celebrating the organisation’s remarkable journey and achievements over the years.

Dr Sikazwe emphasised that the Labour Day celebration is not just about milestones but also a tribute to the staff members who have consistently demonstrated outstanding commitment and excellence in their roles.

She appreciated the award recipients’ outstanding contributions to the organisation’s success while applauding the dedication of all staff, describing them as the organisation’s greatest asset.

Recognising the well-being of employees as a priority, Dr Sikazwe underscored CIDRZ’s commitment to providing support amid the changing global funding landscapes, including mental health assistance, financial wellness sessions, and sports activities that promote physical well-being.

Meanwhile, CIDRZ Board Chairperson, Mr Charles Mpundu, commended the team for their dedication and resilience.

“Today, we rightfully celebrate our award recipients, whose exceptional contributions have shone brightly. At the same time, we deeply value the dedication and hard work of every single member of the CIDRZ team. Your collective efforts are the foundation of our impact, and we are grateful for every one of you,” Mr Mpundu said.

He urged all staff to stay united in purpose and courageous in their vision, as they continue to create innovative, sustainable solutions that drive the health and prosperity of our nation forward.
Deserving staff were awarded in four categories which included Most Outstanding, Innovation and Creativity, Commitment and Hard Work, and Cost Effectiveness.
