Rufunsa Health Workers Laud CIDRZ and Partners for High-Impact Planning Meeting.

Rufunsa District Health Office Planner, Nicholas Sakala, delivering his remarks during the recent semi-annual planning meeting for healthcare providers held in Luangwa.

Some Health workers from Rufunsa District have commended the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), Lusaka Provincial Health Office (LPHO), and the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for organising a high-impact semi-annual planning meeting for healthcare providers which was held in Luangwa recently.

Speaking during the official opening of the meeting, Rufunsa District Health Office Planner Nicholas Sakala described the gathering as unique, especially in light of current global healthcare challenges.

“As a district, we must take these meetings seriously. If stakeholders, including CIDRZ, were to withdraw their support, some of our services would be affected. This is why we must focus on sustainability, bring our challenges to the table, and find solutions,” Sakala stated.

Meanwhile, Albert Hitima, a Health Information Officer, commended CIDRZ and its partners for their continued support in strengthening healthcare delivery. He also extended his appreciation to the Lusaka Province Health Office for its unwavering support.

“We are grateful for the opportunity to share best practices among facilities, which has significantly contributed to improving performance,” Hitima remarked.

Grace Bowa Kapambwe, TB/HIV Coordinator at the Rufunsa District Health Office, noted that the review meeting served as a platform for assessing performance, identifying challenges, and recommending solutions.

She added that review meetings should be conducted regularly to help health care workers learn from good practices, capture knowledge, and even address some challenges on the spot.

CIDRZ Medical Mentor Dr Sydney Mwamba emphasised the importance of the meeting, as it focused on reviewing the performance of the first two quarters of the year, identifying underperforming areas, and developing actionable plans to enhance service delivery.
