HIV care continues to evolve as new evidence, treatments, and recommendations emerge. To keep pace with these changes, the Ministry of Health, in collaboration with implementing partners, is updating the Zambia Consolidated Guidelines for the Treatment and Prevention of HIV.

The revision is intended to ensure that Zambia’s national HIV protocols reflect the latest scientific evidence, global best practices, and updated World Health Organization recommendations.

To help translate the updated guidance into practice, the Ministry of Health, with support from the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), through PROUDZ, trained 30 participants drawn from health facilities across Lusaka District.

CIDRZ’s PROUD-Z Head of Administration, Mr Simate Simate said the training is part of a series of sessions being conducted for healthcare workers across Lusaka, Eastern, Western, and Southern provinces.

Mr Simate further added that sessions are equipping frontline teams with the knowledge and skills needed to strengthen HIV prevention, treatment, and care. Meanwhile, Dr Madaliso Sakala from the Lusaka Provincial Health Office encouraged the team to adapt to the updated guidelines with a positive mindset and to provide ongoing feedback on effective practices. He noted that thorough documentation will offer valuable insights to policymakers.
