
Dr Otto Nzapfurundi Chabikuli

Dr Otto Nzapfurundi Chabikuli is the Chief Executive Officer of the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) and an Adjunct Associate Professor of Global Health at Howard University. A physician, global health scholar, and health systems expert with more than 30 years of experience, he has led clinical, research, teaching, and program implementation efforts across the public, private, academic, and nonprofit sectors in Africa. Dr Chabikuli has a deep understanding of Africa’s health landscape and a strong commitment to locally led solutions that drive lasting impact. Prior to joining CIDRZ, he served in senior leadership roles at FHI 360, including Vice President for East and Southern Africa Programs, overseeing multi-country health portfolios spanning HIV, tuberculosis, nutrition, health systems strengthening, and epidemic preparedness across 18 countries. Dr. Chabikuli has held academic appointments at institutions in Africa and the United States and is widely recognized for advancing evidence-informed policy, implementation science, and health systems transformation.
