As CIDRZ continues to enhance its ability to provide swift support for public health emergency response, we are proud to announce that our research fellow, Cynthia Phiri Mubanga, has been selected as a volunteer expert with the African Volunteers Health Corps (AVoHC).
AVoHC, an initiative of the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), strengthens the continent’s capacity to address public health emergencies by deploying skilled professionals for outbreak response, surveillance, and health system strengthening across African Union Member States.
As part of her onboarding, Mrs Mubanga, who serves as the National Multi-Pathogen Diagnostic Programme (NMPDP) Coordinator under CIDRZ’s Transitioning and Integrating Laboratory Services (TRAILS) project, recently participated in the AVoHC Induction Training in Harare, Zimbabwe.
The training, organised by Africa CDC’s Emergency Preparedness and Response Division, brought together a multidisciplinary cohort from across the continent and equipped them with skills to support regional health security efforts.
