Chief Sikute of the Toka-Leya People of Kazungula District is proud to have participated in the National Multi-pathology Diagnostic Programme (NMPDP), which was recently launched in Livingstone.
In his speech, Chief Sikute appreciated the programme’s potential to revolutionise healthcare access and diagnostic capabilities across the southern province, especially for remote communities that have long faced challenges due to limited medical resources.
“This initiative promises significant benefits. As mentioned, just one specimen tube can test over 30 diseases, a remarkable advancement in medical diagnostics”, he said.
He recommended that the specimen collection referral system be enhanced to make the process seamless so that people in remote areas who face challenges with transportation and accommodation when coming into town can benefit from this programme just as much as those living in town.
Chief Sikute thanked the Ministry of Health Zambia, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ), and all other partners for launching the National Multi-pathology Diagnostic Programme.
