CIDRZ, through its USAID-funded Controlling HIV Epidemic for Key and Underserved Populations I (USAID CHEKUP I) project, today joined other like-minded stakeholders to mark the beginning of the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence (GBV).
The event, held at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, was officiated by Mr Hakainde Hichilema, the President of the Republic of Zambia, under the theme: Towards Beijing +30: UNITE to End Violence against Women and Girls.
This year’s 16 Days of GBV Activism will run from 25th November to 10th December 2024, focusing on uniting efforts to end vice. As part of this global campaign, CIDRZ’s Determined, Resilient, Empowered, AIDS-free, Mentored, and Safe (DREAMS) initiative will host a range of activities throughout the 16 Days of Activism, all aligned with the theme. According to the United Nations, one woman or girl is killed every 10 minutes by their intimate partner or family member.
