CIDRZ holds dissemination meeting on Knowledge, Attitude and Practices (KAP) Survey on Covid 19 in Zambia

The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia(CIDRZ) conducted a two-day workshop on the results of the first MOH/ZNPHI owned national survey on the five golden rules for preventing the spread of COVID-19.

Representatives from the Ministry of Health (MOH), Zambia National Public Health Institute (ZNPHI), Provincial Health Office (PHO) and District Health Office (DHO) deliberated on the findings and developed an action plan.

“We are delighted that CIDRZ conducted the first National KAP survey. The findings from the survey show the substantial progress that the MOH, ZNPHI and other supporting partners have made towards the fight of COVID 19 in Zambia. We hope these results will be used to develop behaviour interventions to improve uptake of COVID 19 guidelines and reduce the spread of COVID 19 in Zambia,” said MOH Assistant Director for Health Promotions.

The data for this survey was collected using interactive voice recording (IVR) technology from December 2020 to January 2021. The final report will be shared after receiving feedback from leadership in the National COVID-19 response and the Risk Communication and Community Engagement (RCCE) Committee.

This project was funded by Crown Agents through their ASCEND project in Zambia, whilst VOTO Mobile (VIAMO) conducted the phone survey, and the CIDRZ social and behavioural science, data, and analysis units collaborated on the analyses and dissemination of findings.

In as much as the corona virus is a risk to the general public, equally even the trained HCW are more at risk. The great job is done since all the parties are thought of and taken care of,from children, adults to HCW. The awareness about this pandemic has been spread in most areas, it is however up to the public to respond to the regulations and measures put in place against the fight with the pandemic. Lives are being lost on a daily basis and with the new vaccines, hopefully the numbers will fall drastically. The government, NGOs and other stake holder have done to me,the best they can in the fight against the corona virus.
