CIDRZ Hosts Global Public Health Leaders to Explore Evidence-to-Policy Approaches in Health Systems Strengthening.

CIDRZ hosted 35 fellows from the University of Washington’s International Programme in Public Health Leadership (IPPHL), representing 20 African countries, for a learning exchange on translating research evidence into policies, programs, and solutions to strengthen health systems.

The fellows, comprising public health professionals, policymakers, physicians, and technical experts, explored CIDRZ’s approach to evidence generation, partnerships, and health system strengthening. Discussions highlighted how research informs national priorities, including the TASK-PEN model, which supports access to chronic disease services through integrated, people-centred care.

One of the key highlights of the visit was learning how evidence generated through research and implementation can move beyond publications to influence real-world health systems.

The exchange underscored the value of local evidence, collaboration, and innovation in improving health outcomes, while providing future public health leaders with practical lessons in evidence translation and health system transformation across Africa.
