The Centre for Infectious Disease Research in Zambia (CIDRZ) through the USAID funded Tuberculosis Local Organization Network (TBLON) project, has trained 24 health workers from Matero main clinic, Chilenje general hospital and Chelston level 1 hospital in management of drug resistant Tuberculosis (TB).
The 24 health workers include Medical officers, Clinical officers, Nurses, Radiologists, biomedical scientists, Environmental Health Officers and Pharmacists.
The training is meant to equip participants with knowledge and skills in Drug-Resistant-TB (DR-TB) prevention, management, and control. The training will facilitate the decentralization of DR-TB services to the selected facilities in line with the Ministry of Health mission of Universal Health coverage and taking health services as close to the families as possible.
Under the USAID TBLON project, CIDRZ is implementing tuberculosis activities in Southern and Lusaka Provinces with the aim of improving prevention treatment and completion of DR TB treatment through strengthening patient centred care. This assistance is from the American people
